faces of melbourne

i have settled back into routine more quickly than i thought i would. pete might muse about how depressing it is, and hes probably right in the long run, but i find im rediscovering melbourne. st kilda is a fascinating place to live and demands to be discovered. but elsewhere, pocket so full of life, so distinct from each other, if only i wasn't doing nights! or have yet another essay to write! or busy finding excuses...

resident life

sunset. orange-pink horizon. the moon already up ahead of me, overlooking the road. at last - the cool change! the noise of peak hour traffic subsiding and people pass me hurrying home. lights are coming on in the houses and apartments. the massive crane towers at the top of the road, signposting the hospital. im heading in for another night shift, and strangely im not altogether unhappy. surprisingly, i suspect i might even be a little content.
