waiting for the sun to rise

its the day before i leave for taiwan to do my electives for 10 weeks. i don't think the fact i'm leaving has actually sunk in yet, although the last 48 hours has been very hectic. in fact, the last two weeks has been a bit of a blur. the tb thing, and exams, and then packing, and winding down at the post exam drinks, and finally our nerdfest LAN game all-nighter last night and today. i am exhausted! But I will start at the beginning, because i want to remember what a wonderful time it's been.

osces finished around 11am (it was terrible) and we went to pa's for a few brews and ciggies, and a game of pictionary. then it was home to do washing and packing and ironing, listening to elton john (tiny dancers). afterwards, headed back out to pa's to have drinks with galaxy, sharon and mary, and ended up arguing about the growing trend in western medicine towards emphasis on evidence based medicine and genetics basis of disease. i thought they were nice tools, but medicine is an art form, much more than a science, and if i was sick, i'd rather be understood than quantified, cared for rather than just given appropriate antibiotics based on my genetic profile. after that, gal and i headed out to three degrees where he confronted his destiny (resulting in a rather bad mood and much alcohol consumption). then we headed out to jim and pete's place and played diablo ii all night. i think i have developed rsi from all the writing and mouse clicking.

everyone seems to be heading overseas or at least a flight away for their electives. lou's going to singapore, mini min to the uk, the twins to the gold coast, brumbles to broome (to get a tan), gal and jim are going to glasgow, pete to canada. i hope everyone has a lovely time, because sixth year exams are gonna try and kill us so we can finally become interns... *shudders*
